U.S. 2022 Aug CPI had been published recently, looking into this numbers one could see that besides for the dropping energy component, one major component of the current CPI number is the “Owner’s equivalent rent of residences” under the Shelter sector. However, there is an interesting point of view is that such a number is delayed from the reality for quite a couple months, this could be told from the turning point in the figure below, whereas zillow is expected to have the most accurate and up to date rental market data.
